Botox injections are one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the medical aesthetics industry. Botox is a short-form of the words Botulinum Toxin, the injections cause the temporary paralysis of muscles, preventing the face from intensifying smile-lines, crow’s feet, and the “11” lines formed between the eyebrows when frowning. While the cosmetic medicine industry is comprised of a majority female based clientele, a new term has been coined to describe the rise of men seeking out Botox Injections: Brotox.
Admitting to getting cosmetic injections used to be considered taboo. In this day and age, however, men and women alike are admitting to seeking out anti-aging treatments like Botox and Dermal Fillers.
“The number of men seeking Botox has increased 310 percent since 2000, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and a similar boom is happening with other noninvasive procedures like filler and laser treatments. Combine the availability of easy outpatient treatments with wider cultural acceptance and an increased emphasis on the value of youth in the workforce and what you’ve got is the makings of a mini-revolution.”

When administered in the correct locations by a skilled injector, Botox injections last an average of 3-4 months per patient. The injections have minimal to no down-time, making it a quick lunch-time procedure. Results are not immediate, and can take anywhere from 24 hours to up to 14 days for complete results to show.
On top of reducing unsightly wrinkles, Botox injections have other uses in the medical and medical aesthetics industry. For patients with excessive sweating- hyperhidrosis, Botox injections can be administered to minimize and eliminate the symptoms altogether. The injections can also be used to thin jawlines and reduce the effects of TMJ.
